The Shore to Shore Relay Race A New Concept In Ultra Distance Events
There are many popular ultra-distance relay events, such as the Hood to Coast, that use a continuous format with wave starts. In this format slower teams are started first and the fastest teams start last. The teams then must complete the 305KM without stopping. The other popular format is the Stage Format. Races such as the Cabot Trail Relay use a Stage Format with a mass start at each Stage. In this format all runners start each Leg together and there is a defined start time for each Leg of the race. We decided to take the best of both race concepts to create a Multi-Stage Format and the Westover Shore To Shore Relay.
On May 30 and 31, 2008 there will be three events:
- a 322 km running relay
- a 201 km walking relay
- a 57.8 km recreational walking relay
